OpenAI Creates My World Play AI
OpenAI recently announced that they have used 70,000 hours of My World gameplay online video to develop The Minecraft AI, an AI that can complete in-game tasks such as chopping down trees and making tools by controlling complex keyboard and mouse actions. the Minecraft AI is the first machine that can make “diamond tools,” a task that requires 20 minutes of high-speed clicking and about 24,000 actions from a good human player.

OpenAI believes that online video will be a very high quality repository for imitation learning that can be used in the future to train AI to control robotic arms, drive, or navigate web pages.

Musk Posts Messages Blaming Apple
On November 29, Twitter CEO Musk posted several messages on social networks accusing Apple of withdrawing most of Twitter’s ads from the App Store and “threatening” to take down Twitter, without giving any reason or explanation for the latter’s actions. Apple has not yet provided a clear response. Musk also hit out at the App Store’s 30 percent cut.

A Swedish State-Owned Fund Sues Microsoft and Activision Blizzard
A Swedish state-owned pension fund, Sjunde AP-Fonden (AP7), recently sued Activision Blizzard and Microsoft, alleging that its $69 billion acquisition was rigged to protect Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, a holder of Activision stock.

The lawsuit names Kotick and other former and current members of Activision’s board of directors, arguing that they used sexual harassment and other scandals to engineer a low-ball deal to ensure Bobby Kotick kept his job until the acquisition closed. At the same time, the suit proposes an investigation into Bobby Kotick’s actions in going beyond the scope of the board’s negotiations to agree to the deal price and refusing to resign in the sexual harassment case and instead trading the company.

Musk Says Twitter User Signups Reach All-Time High
On Nov. 27, Elon Musk announced that new user registrations for Twitter had reached an all-time high as advertisers and users fled to other platforms. The numbers show that on November 16, the average number of new registrations per day exceeded two million, up 66 percent year-over-year. The number of active user minutes also reached an all-time high, with a total of eight billion minutes of daily user activity in the seven days to the 15th, up 30 percent year-over-year.
