Apple plans to launch a new iCloud encryption system
Apple is introducing a new iCloud encryption system, Advanced Data Protection, with iOS 16.2, which will provide data protection for iCloud services including iCloud Backup, iCloud Drive, Reminders, Notes, and more. End-to-end encryption protection for iCloud services including iCloud Backup, iCloud Drive, Reminders, and Notes. With Advanced Data Protection enabled, users who cannot access their device and have forgotten their iCloud password will need a recovery key or a data recovery contact created in advance to access their content.

In addition, Apple expects to introduce iMessage Contact Key Verification and Security Keys for Apple ID to further enhance the security of user data. iMessage Contact Key Verification is targeted at users facing “special digital threats” such as journalists, human rights activists and officials; when enabled, it allows messages to be sent and received only with contacts authenticated by the owner; if an attacker successfully penetrates the cloud server and hacks into the device to eavesdrop on the conversation, the user is alerted. Security Keys for Apple ID gives users the option to use a third-party physical security key to further protect their accounts.

Apple Launches New Installment of Ask Apple for Developers
On December 8, Apple announced a new Ask Apple interactive Q&A event for the Chinese development community on December 12. Developers can participate in the event by asking questions on a variety of topics, including how to use the latest frameworks, improve the UI design of apps, develop with Beta OS software and tools, and more, with a full Q&A session.

There is no charge for Ask Apple and registration is open to all members of the Apple Developer Program and Apple Developer Enterprise Program. In addition to the Ask Apple series, developers can access hundreds of hours of on-demand courses on the Apple Developer website and Apple Developer app.
