Canon Inc. is a Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in Ōta, Tokyo, Japan. Its predecessor is Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory founded in 1937 by Takeshi Mitarai. It was then called Canon since 1947. Canon made its name by producing the Kwanon, a prototype for Japan’s first-ever 35 mm camera with a focal plane based shutter. The later indulgence in developing good-performance hi-tech camera and the related accessories did gain reputation worldwide and gain the fund to expand its scale so that its products can be sold across the world. With abundant capital, Canon Inc. also expands business range to make its products and brand name found in 3 main filed, namely imaging system, office, industry and others.
